Food & Eateries: Tru-Juice presents Christmas-season drinks

From left: Tru-Juice Sorrel with Ginger, Calico Jack Rum Punch and Cranberry.

It’s that time of year again and we’re all feeling the cool Christmas breeze incite holiday cheer. To go along with the pineappled ham, roast beef and stuffed chicken, Tru-Juice is having us ready for Christmas dinner with their three frontline drinks this season.
These are the Cranberry, Sorrel with Ginger, and the increasingly popular Calico Jack Rum Punch.
The Tru-Juice team is out in the streets test-tasting the three products, and if you can’t make it to any of the locations listed below on the schedule, you can purchase them from your favourite supermarkets islandwide.

The Trio:
Launched just over a year ago, the Calico Jack Rum Punch is relatively new but comes from an over 100-year-old family recipe courtesy of the McConnells. The product is named after colonial-era sailor John “Calico Jack” Rackham and was a hit at soirees hosted by the family. Tru Juice presents the blend of tropical fruit and local rum as a ready-to-drink alcoholic beverage.
The Sorrel with Ginger is the solution for all who want to skip the meticulous fermenting process this Christmas. Tru-Juice uses three varieties of sorrel in their mix – the Manchester Black, Bashment and Paraguay – and, with it being a super-fruit that provides numerous health benefits, they make sure that the sorrel drink adheres to very strict standards of preparation to maximise them.
And with Cranberry rounding out the trio of Christmas drinks, many wonder why it’s being marketed as such since it isn’t a traditional Jamaican Christmas drink and the fruit isn’t even native to the island. Well, Tru-Juice feels it’s a worthy addition because of its health benefits and its popularity as a chaser in mixed drinks on the local party scene, which happens to come to life again during the Christmas season.

These three drinks will surely be a hit in many households this Christmas and, of course, outside of the holiday season. Enjoy!
